Lakeland Teen Struck by Car Listed in Serious Condition

A 14-year-old girl who was struck by a car Tuesday morning while attempting to walk across North Socrum Loop Road near Lake Gibson Middle School, was listed in serious condition in the Tampa General Hospital Children's Medical Center on Wednesday morning. Alexis Spiker, of 6950 N. Socrum Loop Road, in Lakeland, was taken to Tampa General Hospital on Tuesday night. Witnesses said about 6:45 a.m. Spiker walked into the path of a 1994 Toyota Celica driven by Morgan Taylor Thompson, 18, of 4336 Knight Station Road, in Lakeland, according to the Florida Highway Patrol's crash report. Spiker was trying to cross North Socrum Loop Road from east to west in front of the middle school. "Two police officers injured in crash in Tampa"

TAMPA -- Two Tampa police officers were hospitalized following a traffic crash early Sunday morning. Police said officers Gary Saunders and Robert Partner were heading south on Tampa Street shortly before 1 a.m. in an unmarked white Ford Crowd Victoria. At the same time, Charles D. Barrett, 34, was heading west on Polk Street in a 1997 Ford Explorer, police said. The unmarked police vehicle struck the Explorer at the intersection, the report said. The officers were taken to Tampa General Hospital with injuries originally considered serious. They have since been upgraded to stable condition. Barrett suffered minor injuries that did not require medical treatment. "Woman, 27, killed in Interstate 4 crash"

A 27-year-old woman was killed in an early morning crash on Interstate-4 in Hillsborough County.

The accident happened at 3:28 a.m. near the 10 milepost.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2002 Dodge Ram, driven by 52-year-old Wayde Clayton Davis, of Lutz, going westbound on I-4 hit a 2001 PT Cruiser from behind.

Mai Amer D Alahmadi, 27, a rear passenger in the Cruiser, was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where she later died.

Davis was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and released. There were no other injuries reported.

FHP said charges are pending and the crash remains under investigation.

"Two people died as a result of a traffic crash Sunday night in Plant City"

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 10:30 p.m. when a Ford Escort crossed the center line and collided with a Toyota Corolla on State Road 60 near Highway 39.

Officials identified the victims as 23-year-old Saul Gregorio-Daniel, of Plant City and Shawn Quade, 34, of Brandon. Gregorio-Daniel was the passenger in the Ford while Quade was riding in the Toyota.

Both died at the scene of the crash.

Servando Gregorio, who was driving the Ford, remains in critical condition at Tampa General Hospital.

The driver of the Toyota, Sayeeda Quade, is in serious condition at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

The crash remains under investigation.
