A motorcycle crash in Clearwater claimed the lives of the driver and his passenger Thursday night.

Daniel Rivers was driving a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle with Starr Knoteck as a passenger when he failed to make a turn on Montclair Road.

Authorities say Rivers was speeding and lost control of the motorcycle on the curve near the 1800 block.

Both Rivers and Knoteck were tossed from the bike. Knoteck died at the scene and Rivers died later at Mease Dunedin Hospital.

Clearwater Police are investigating if alcohol contributed to the cause of the crash.

It is really sad that Daniel Rivers & Starr knoteck lost their lives to a serious motor vehicle accident while failing to make a turn on Montclair Road. I can’t realize why people simply don’t follow the specific maximum legal speeds on roadways and highways. It is seen that some drivers express frustration with speed limits, feeling that they are unnecessarily slow and prevent sufficiently swift travel, the roads are designed with a maximum speed in mind that is determined by the geography and topography of the surrounding area. When traveling slowly, the impact might be jarring but the damage to the vehicles involved and the physical injuries sustained by their occupants are likely to be fairly minor. As the speed increases, the vehicles essentially turn into massive projectiles and the exterior structure of an automobile is unable to withstand the force of the collision, crumpling inward with twisted metal and shattered glass.
