New Port Richey motorcyclist dies in crash

A 36- year-old motorcyclist was killed after he veered off Cecilia Drive and crashed Friday afternoon, police said. Luis R. Torres of New Port Richey was westbound near
Greenwood Street when, for an unknown reason, his 2008 Suzuki GSXR-1000 went off the
road and crashed into a parked car at about 4:20 p.m., according to New Port Richey police. Torres, who appeared to have been speeding, was thrown from the bike, police said. He was pronounced dead at Bayfront Medical Center, police said.

Police identify man who died in Port St. Lucie crash Monday

PORT ST. LUCIE — The motorcycle rider who died following a Monday night crash at Southwest Port St. Lucie Boulevard and Southwest Chestnut Lane has been identified as Jeffery Stone, police said Wednesday. St. Lucie County Fire District crews at 9:50 p.m. Monday were called to the reported collision involving a car and a motorcycle, Fire District spokeswoman Catherine Chaney has said. The motorcycle is thought to have been traveling at speeds greater than 100 mph before crashing into the car, Officer Tom Nichols, Port St. Lucie police spokesman, has said. Stone, 25, died at the scene, while a woman in her late teens was flown to a local trauma center in stable condition. "Man dies in Titusville motorcycle crash"

A Brevard County man died early this morning after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into a concrete wall, Titusville police said. Salvatore Joseph Cruz, 21, of Mims, was riding a 1998 Honda motorcycle west on Harrison Street just after 2 a.m. when he struck the wall. He was taken to Parrish Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him dead. "Motorcyclist tried to bribe his way out of speeding ticket, deputies say"

A motorcyclist was arrested in the Port Orange area early Saturday after he tried to bribe his way out of a speeding ticket, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.
According to sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidson, a deputy spotted 20-year-old Andrew Ouellette traveling 67 mph in a 50 mph zone on Nova Road about 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
The deputy pulled Ouellette over near the intersection of Herbert Street and Old Hammock Road. According to the Sherriff's Office, Ouellette told the deputy he had been ticketed several times recently and "couldn't afford another one," asking if there was anything he could do to avoid being cited.
Davidson said Ouellette then pulled a roll of cash from his pocket and asked the deputy, "Are you sure we can't do anything?"
When the deputy handcuffed him, Ouellette insisted his comment was not meant to be taken as a bribe, Davidson said. "However, he also couldn't provide another explanation for the meaning of his comment."

A motorcycle crash in Clearwater claimed the lives of the driver and his passenger Thursday night.

Daniel Rivers was driving a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle with Starr Knoteck as a passenger when he failed to make a turn on Montclair Road.

Authorities say Rivers was speeding and lost control of the motorcycle on the curve near the 1800 block.

Both Rivers and Knoteck were tossed from the bike. Knoteck died at the scene and Rivers died later at Mease Dunedin Hospital.

Clearwater Police are investigating if alcohol contributed to the cause of the crash.

A 26-year-old woman who was speeding and weaving out of traffic on Interstate 95 is guilty of vehicular homicide of two motorcyclists she hit

A jury deliberated for a hour Wednesday afternoon before finding Dominique Brice, of Miami, guilty of killing the motorcyclists parked along the northbound lanes on Feb. 29, 2008, near the juncture of Indian River and St. Lucie counties.

Sentencing is Nov. 25. She could face up to 30 years in jail.

Killed in the mid-day accident were off-duty North Miami police officer Fritz Doucet, 37, and West Palm Beach computer technician Raul Ortiz. They were recently reunited high school buddies going to Bike Week in Daytona Beach, said Ortiz’s sister, Carmen Sanchez, of New Jersey.

The Labor Day holiday is more than a week away but law enforcement is already hitting the roads in search of impaired motorists

If you're caught driving over the limit, you will be under arrest.

If you're driving in Alabama, Florida, or Georgia, you may want to think twice before getting behind the wheel. Troopers along with other law enforcement agencies will be out in full force watching for motorists driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Kevin Cook of the Alabama State Troopers says, “We're going to be doing driver's license checkpoints, with our task force zero, our bat mobile is going to be in play on this regular line patrols and just a general increase in numbers in order to inhibit the impaired driver.”

Just because you can't see them, doesn't mean they aren't there. Undercover, motorcycles and unmarked cars...law enforcement will be watching for any illegal or unusual driving behavior.

Cook says, “Speeding, aggressive driving… when people ingest alcohol they don't think straight and reaction times get slowed. It's things that we take for granted that we do normally with regular muscle memory that gets totally distorted.”

Three men tried to outrun the law on their motorcycles in the Keys on Sunday: one is dead and two are in jail.

Three friends spotted speeding on their motorcycles Sunday night in the Florida Keys stepped on the gas when deputies tried to pull them over, reaching speeds more than 100 mph as they tried to flee down curvy, busy U.S. 1.

It was a deadly decision. Jonathan Wiringer, 23, of Boca Raton, died after crashing into a truck, trees and a fence. Travis Limbaugh and Andrew Chersin kept going, but were arrested within an hour at different locations in Miami-Dade County.

Deputy Kenneth Brand with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office crashed his patrol car after attempting to stop the speeding motorcyclists, but was uninjured.
