JURY DELIVERS $2.25 MILLION VERDICT IN 1-95 OFF-RAMP CRASH

LEGAL BRIEFS JURY DELIVERS $2.25 MILLION VERDICT IN 1-95 OFF-RAMP CRASH A Palm Beach County jury found a teenage driver was responsible for the death of Ann Prushansky and awarded damages netting the victim's three surviving children $2.25 million. Fradley, 17 at the time, was blamed for killing Prushansky in a six-vehicle pileup on the 1-95 exit ramp at Boynton Beach Boulevard in 2008. Jurors heard testimony that Fradley had been drinking alcohol and taking Xanax the day of the crash. At one time, Fradley faced a drunken- driving manslaughter charge, but it was dropped after blood tests were ruled inadmissible. Prushansky, 70, was found 25 percent at fault in the collision, reducing a total award of $3 million by $750,000. The case was heard by Circuit Judge David Crow, and the verdict was rendered March 9. Kenneth Metnick of Metnick Levy & Long in Delray Beach argued for the plaintiffs. Bart Cozad with Derrevere Hawkes Black Cozad in West Palm Beach represented Fradley.
