"Pedestrian killed in Tampa traffic crash on Kennedy Blvd."

TAMPA --
A pedestrian has died following a traffic accident in Tampa.
The accident happened at Kennedy Boulevard and Tampania Street shortly after 9 p.m.
The victim, identified only as a man in his 60s, sustained massive head trauma and was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he later died.
This is what police say happened:
The man was attempting to cross Kennedy Blvd. He failed to observe the on-coming traffic and stepped into the path of a 2004 Jeep Wrangler.
The driver of the Jeep did not see the pedestrian until she struck him with the left front end of her vehicle, police say.
Kennedy Boulevard is closed between South Habana Avenue and North Armenia Avenue. It will remain closed for some time.
