"Lakeland Man, 75, Killed in Crash; Two Others Are Injured"

LAKELAND One man was killed and two others were seriously injured in a two-car crash at U.S. 98 and West Socrum Loop Road on Monday morning.

William T. Snow, 75, of Lakeland, died at Lakeland Regional Medical Center as a result of injuries. His wife, Elaine S. Snow, 75, was seriously injured. So was William Lee Lavender, 41, the driver of the other vehicle.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at 6:49 a.m. when a 2006 Chrysler minivan driven by Lavender of Dora, Ala., was driving west on West Socrum Loop and he pulled out in front of a 2008 Saturn SUV being driven north by Elaine S. Snow.
The impact of the crash caused Lavender, who was not wearing a seat belt, to be ejected into the grass median after his vehicle spun before stopping near the intersection.
Both of the Snows were wearing seat belts. Their vehicle came to rest in the southbound lane of U.S. 98.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash caused a traffic detour at Socrum Loop Road until officials were able to reopen the highway in both directions around 830 a.m.
