"UF senior suffers head injuries learning to ride motorcycle"

A senior at the University of Florida suffered critical head injuries Sunday, apparently while learning to drive a motorcycle.
According to the Gainesville Police Department, the accident happened while Stacie Lavender, 21, was in a parking lot at Arbor Place apartments at 309 SW 16th Ave.
Witnesses told police that she was being taught to drive a motorcycle when she apparently lost control and hit her head on a stairwell. She was taken to Shands at the University of Florida in critical condition following the crash at about 4:45 p.m.
UF officials said Lavender is a majoring in sociology and has a minor in women’s studies.
The accident remained under investigation on Monday.
