Three people were killed, including one from Lake City, in a two-car crash in Suwannee County Friday morning, reported the Florida Highway Patrol.
Killed were Oedis Walter Blanks, 69, of Lake City; Dorothy Lee Sherman, 53, of Harris Township, Mich.; and a passenger in her car whose identity was not available but was also from Harris Township, FHP stated in a media release.
The accident happened at 10:48 a.m. at the intersection of Suwannee County roads 132 and 795.
Sherman was driving a 2008 Kia SUV north on CR 795 approaching the intersection of CR 132, the release states. Blanks was driving a 2008 Chevrolet truck west on CR 132.
According to FHP, Sherman failed to stop and remain stopped at the intersection of County Road 132. She drove into the intersection into the direct path of Blanks.
Polly Jones Blanks, 64, a passenger in Blanks’ truck, was hospitalized in Shands at Live Oak with serious injuries, FHP stated.
