A motorcyclist trying to pass a car as it turned off Bee Ridge Road was thrown from the bike and died from the impact Saturday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Christopher L. Farr, 26, of Sarasota was killed in the accident, which occurred shortly before noon on Saturday.
Both Farr and Sarasota resident Maria Wieters, 25, were heading west on Bee Ridge Road approaching the intersection of Wake Avenue when the accident occurred. Wieters began to turn her Toyota Prius left onto Wake Avenue just as Farr was attempting to pass her on the left side, the FHP said.
Farr collided with the Prius and was thrown from his motorcyle. He was wearing a helmet, the FHP report said.
