"Two police officers injured in crash in Tampa"

TAMPA -- Two Tampa police officers were hospitalized following a traffic crash early Sunday morning. Police said officers Gary Saunders and Robert Partner were heading south on Tampa Street shortly before 1 a.m. in an unmarked white Ford Crowd Victoria. At the same time, Charles D. Barrett, 34, was heading west on Polk Street in a 1997 Ford Explorer, police said. The unmarked police vehicle struck the Explorer at the intersection, the report said. The officers were taken to Tampa General Hospital with injuries originally considered serious. They have since been upgraded to stable condition. Barrett suffered minor injuries that did not require medical treatment.
